    Editing Files?

Is there a simple way to edit music files ripped that end up as Unknown Artist/albums? I have about 50 or so albums that the VBP could not resolve so is there a means through the VBP GUI or even the SS GUI that allows manually editing the tags? Do I need to do 3rd party options on the side directly on the directories?

Would a different look up DB like GCCD work better so I wouldn't have thise many unknown files? Alot of these are very popular artist/cds so I don't know why they couldn't be found.

    Editing Files?

    Hello vining,

    I read two questions:

    1. Why are common music files not properly tagged when ripped by VortexBox?

I do not know the answer to this. Some users have good luck with tags and album art. Others do not.

My solution to this is to use dBpoweramp on a network PC to rip CDs directly to my VBA. dBpoweramp works fast and the tags and album art are nearly perfect for over 40,000 songs.

I do not use the VBA's CD drive except to install VB ISO images, when that's needed.

    2. How does one correct music file tags on VortexBox?

The easiest way is to use an external tag editor like Tag&Rename to point at the music directory or file that requires correction and fix the problem(s). After correction, you will need to Rescan the library, often Clear and Rescan, to have SBS see and use the changed tags.

    I hope that helps,
    -mike

tag and rename works well. Or use the web GUI based Subsonic to edit the tags.

My favorite Windows program for tag editing is mp3tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en).

I second Mike's recommendation for dBpoweramp.
