Playing other formats WMA, Napster, BBC Radio in VortexBox Player

Have followed this process, all internet radio stations (including BBC) are now music, but for me Napster (WMA) still isn't working - I've noticed internet radio feeds that are WMA working though

Hi Ian,


Can you give a more detail about the steps you have taken and what happens when you say Napster does not work?


In addition to the steps above, can you answer a couple of questions:


1) Have you updated Vortexbox using the GUI to the latest version?


1) On the server settings screen in squeezebox server, click on the advanced tab, select Play Windows Media from the dropdown in the top left corner - what does it say by MPlayer?


2) Can you launch the napster app? If so what happens when you try to play a track?


3) Does napster work from a hardware squeezebox?

These looked to be similar, thats as far as I got last night when reviewing




4) Yes works as expected from hardware player




Hope that helps, I'm suspecting its an issue sometihng where with config for mplayer etc. ?

I know a few VortexBox users have napster working with VortexBox. I think you need to make sure your VortexBox player has a unique mac address and that your VortexBox Player is registerd with your mysqueezebox.com account.

Success ! I re-submitted my VB player so that it picked up a different MAC address and now Napster works.
