Thread: Whhy is VB so flighty?

    Why is VB so flighty?

Now VB is not showing up on my network. I know it's running, because I'm ripping. But I can't see it on my network, can't access it via the usual IP addresses. I can't run backup, can't start LMS. It comes and goes. And so does my access to the files. I want to manage my tags - but none of the folders show up in Windows Explorer, nor can I access the files with TagScanner. Sometimes they are available, sometimes not. I can't tell you the number of hours I've spent working with this, and it's getting very annoying. I'm not messing with my network configuration; VB just seems to have a will of it's own and likes to play hide and seek.

Set it up with a static IP address.

Sometimes this is a firewall problem. Test with your modem turned off to keep your computer from accessing the internet. Turn off Windows firewall and any third party firewall you might have installed. What happens now?

Just curious if you are running Win 7?

OK. I'll set up a static IP address. I'll report back. And yes, it's Win7.

I had the same problem on a WIN 7 box. Two things helped.

1- I had to reconfigure a third party firewall
2- The default network setting was to use "HomeGroup" login settings in Win7. That had to be changed to "User".
