    Have Big Problem reconnecting Vortexbox!!!

Was filling up the 1T drive in Vortexbox so got a new 3T red series HD from WD. The install went fine and the box turned on and the internet connection light lit up Also lan connection on back has geen light and flashing amber and flashed a couple of times but did not connect. This router had previously been using a static IP address I had keyed in to the vortexbox. I have tried the push button method etc with no luck. I have powered of VB several times etc. It does not show up on pc network. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Can you hook a keyboard and monitor to it and see if you have a login prompt? Once you login type ifconfig eth0 and see what inet addr says. If you assigned the vortexbox a static address in the past you'll need to give it the same address as before.

Here is an example on how to configure the ethernet port. Change the values as needed:

ip addr add 192.168.0.10/24 dev eth0
ip route add default via 192.168.0.1
    ip link set eth0 up

Ok, bought a monitor and hooked the VB up. Get the bios screen and imeadiately get message "reboot select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press key". Is the boot info on old drive??? I did back it up but did not restore it yet as no way to get into GUI? Thks

The obvious suggestion is just to reinstall with the monitor attached, and watch what's going on.

Thanks durks. In the mean time Andrew answered my e=mail and indicated all my boot info is on old drive. So now have to download The ISO software and install it. Hope this works the same as installing a regular OS. thks again

Glad I found Ron Olsen's post on recognizing the full 3T using Gpart before I installed the VB ISO disc on the drive. Hope tomorrow to be up and running
