You are correct. The change to use parted instead of sfdisk was introduced in February 2012, and was not part of the original VB 2.0 release in November 2011. The current VB 2.0 code uses parted.
All VB 2.0 users are encouraged to keep their systems up to date with regular upgrades.
I agree, it would be great if each VB ISO had a separate version number: VB 2.0, VB 2.0.1, VB 2.0.2, etc, with a list of changes that apply to each version. This has been suggested to Andrew several times, but he has not bought in to doing this.
