    Multichannel possible using mpd?

    Hi,

I recently started using the vortexbox distro and have become very fond of the mpd concept. It works great with both cd-quality and highrez material. (I make recordings in 88kHz 24bits.)
I wonder if mpd has support for more than 2-channels? Of course I would have to have an alsa sound card configured for multi-channel, but I can't find anything saying that mpd can manage more than 2-ch. Media would mainly be multi-channel flac. Any info on this and what's necessary to make it work? Or should I better check with the mpd folks?

    Thanks,
    /Daniel

PS. Thanks for a great distro. I'm particulary fond of the combined ripper/tagger and music player. Good job!

    Bump...

No-one? Does that mean there's no interest or that it doesn't work?

    Thanks Andrew,

Then I'll try to setup "HDMI out". (Right now I'm using USB out directly into the preamp.) I think I will need to use a daily-build of alsa (or compile it myself) since my motherboard doesn't appear to have made it into an official alsa release yet.
I have a DN2800MT board with cedar trail chipset and get "Intel ID 2880" when I check the codec and that isn't supported in 1.0.25 yet.
Or is there a way to force the generic hdmi support through config files and use the older 1.0.24 alsa? (I think that's what I have on VB after upgrading a few weeks ago.)
Judging from the submitted patch http://osdir.com/ml/kernel-team/2012-03/msg00106.html I think it's all that's needed.
