    Listening through the Squeezeslave server

    Dear All,

I've recently been trialling VB 2.0, and it is working really well on the desktop pc I've adapted for the purpose. I use NetAwake on an iPod to start up the server, and just navigate to \\vortexbox on the same device to shut it down again. It is connected to the house network, with the prime end device being a Samsung 6003 TV. I found the sound on this TV shockingly bad, so purchased a cheap DAC from EBay which does the job and connects the sound to our stereo in the lounge. Having previously trialled 1.9 32 bit, the biggest difference I've noticed with 2.0 is the logitech squeezeslave option. I know nothing about this really, but see it is has DLNA capability and I've played music tracks over the TV with it. What I would really like to do is use it with the Logitech Media Server software on a PC to act as a kind of iTunes with extras. I can see the flacs and iBBC etc on my PC, but playing tracks there is no audio through the PC. This may be a laughable failure on my part, and obviously I don't really understand the link from the logitech server to hearing audio, so I apologise in advance, but can someone help me out from my sketchy description to be able to play back Radio 1 on my PC. Thanks. I also installed MPoD on my iPod, which looks great as a sort-of ITunes Remote-type thing

What I think your trying to do is to get the VB to stream music to your PC?

What you will be needing is a local squeezebox "player" such as squeezesoft. This will then appear in the drop down menu on the squeezebox page, and you can play music to it.

    Hopefully this answers your query

Sorry, I've not been back to the forum since as your suggestion worked perfectly for me too, so many thanks for the advice!
