    Guide to installing Twonky

It seems that recently several people have been posting questions about installing Twonky. A good guide was written in http://www.twonkyforum.com/uns.....-5.0.65.sh[/b]

    sudo chmod 777 twonkymedia-i386-glibc-2.2.5-full-5.0.65.sh[/b]

    sudo ./twonkymedia-i386-glibc-2.2.5-full-5.0.65.sh[/b]

    cd /etc/init.d/[/b]

    sudo chmod 755 twonkyserver[/b]

    sudo nano twonkyserver[/b]

    Look for the lines

    echo -n “Starting $TWONKYSRV … “

    $TWONKYSRV -D

    rc_status -v

replace $TWONKYSRV -D with $TWONKYSRV -D -ip 192.168.1.2 where 192.168.1.2 is the IP address of the Vortexbox. Do CTRL-X, press Y to confirm changes, press Enter to save.

4 4. Set Twonky to start automatically with the Vortexbox

    ntsysv[/b]

Scroll down to twonkyserver, make sure that it is checked (press space so the star will appear in the brackets); press tab to select “OK,” press Enter.

    5

    5. Reboot

    reboot[/b]

    Et voila!

    Guide to installing Twonky

    Hello TheClerm,

Just wanted to say thanks for an excellent guide (you undoubtedly just saved me lots of hours of pain). It worked a charm (I'm using VB 0.9 and the ever-so-slightly newer TwonkyMedia Server 5.0.68).

..Now if I could just figure out where that Vuze client is hiding…

    Cheers!

    Chris.

Hmm.. So I answered my own question:

    "yum install vb-azureus"
Is it possible to install plug-ins with this version? (namely speed scheduler/safepeer)

will this kill the squeezecenter at port 9000 or will it make one or the other come up on a different port?

I did this prior to the install just in case

    2. Change the link to squeezecenter in the Vortexbox web page.

    nano /var/www/html/libs/vortexbox.php

    look for the line

    $icon_array[2] = array('location' => $loacation_count += 75, 'name' => 'Squeeze Center', 'icon' => 'SqueezeCenter.png', 'link' => 'http://'.$ipaddress.':9000')

and change 9000 to 9001. Do CTRL-X, press Y to confirm changes, press Enter to save.

Yes, unless you make the changes you mention, it will kill squeezecenter - until you uninstall and re-install squeezecenter, which will then kill twonky.

You need to change the link to squeezcenter in the VB webpage as you mention, but also change the port that squeezecenter uses, as described in step 1 above.

Nope, I have already taken care of this. SqueezeCenter gets moved when you install the twonky RPM. you don't need to make any code changes. Just follow the instructions and everything will work.

    Guide to installing Twonky

    Hi,

I decided to get TownkyMedia with the current price discount. I installed it via yum install twonkymedia.

I got a few error messages, probably related to the namechange from squeezecenter being renamed to squeezeboxserver

    Here are the messages:

    Installing : twonkymedia-5.0.68-1.i586 1/1
PID file /var/run/mediaserver.pid not found, stopping server anyway...
    /sbin/service: line 66: 16982 Terminated env -i PATH="$PATH" TERM="$TERM" "${SERVICEDIR}/${SERVICE}" ${OPTIONS}
grep: /var/lib/squeezecenter/prefs/server.prefs: No such file or directory
    squeezecenter: unrecognized service
Starting TwonkyMedia daemon: [ OK ]

I hope vortexbox can be updated to correct these "naming" errors.

    Thanks

    Guide to installing Twonky

    Hi,

    An update -

TwonkyMedia Server dosen't seem to be running.

After the yum install twonkymedia, I rebooted Vortexbox. Now SqueezeServer is on port 9001 but when I browse to 9000 I get no response.

From the Vortexbox main page, I see a new Icon for twonkymedia, but clicking on it sends me to :9000 and I get no response.

Any suggestions? I bet this irelated to the name change issue mentioned in my prior post.

    Thanks,

Yep, I have the same problem. I also installed via the 'yum install twonkymedia' cmd line method. I see the TwonyMedia UPnP icon on the main Vortexbox page, but it does not take me to TM set up when I click it. ...

Once you have installed using the script from Twony you may have mucked somthing up. I can only support installation through the RPM. The only help I can give is uninstall whatever you installed using the script and install using the RPM

    yum reinstall twonkymedia
