No Audio When I Try Using Logitec Media Server Interface

    Hello,

I just installed vortex 2.0 ( Ferdora 16 ) I several computers on my network which can see the vortexbox (Win 7 & XP) and I can stream video and audio without any issues at all however I installed the app on my ipad so I can listen to music and video (if possible) on it but I get no audio as. Basically I get no audio output when trying to stream using the logitec media server interface.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

which app are you using for streaming music to your ipad?

I'm using squeezebox , I don't know if I misunderstood the concept maybe you can help clarify. The squeezebox app interface whether via iPad or the media server link on the vortex box is just a controller for the vortexbox. Which means I should expect to get audio coming out the vortexbox and not my iPad or any PC I would use to access the LMS. Correct??

yes, that is the way I am using it. I have tried to see on my android device and my iphone to get music streamed, but I cannot even address the device as player. I am just now searching for app that are designed for streaming music to the i-devices. Itunes should be able to get that playing, when you load a file as music source. at least it works on my pcs, also via wlan.
the vortexbox can be used as a server for itunes and converts flac files on the fly to apple-format. maybe you can give that a try.

Well here's the thing, If select network on my Win7 PC I see the following: Vortexbox Media Server , Vortexbox Player and Logitech Media Server. If I click on Vortex Media server or Logitech Media Server it will open Windows Media player and I can playback without a problem audio or video but if chose Vortexbox Player which opens the Logitech Interface then I cannot hear back any audio so that's where I realized that the interface is just a controller for the actual vortexbox itself and you just connect the audio output to whatever you want like a home theater, etc

oh, now I see what you meant, yes you got it right. So you have players on your devices as musicslaves playing the music from the server function of VB. I assume you have another device connected to your VBcomputer to play the music, like a Squeezebox or a hometheater system..

Correct , i just came across " Squeeze Play " which detects the Vortexbox that I built and will playback on a lapop or other computers here on the network. I think there might be an app for the iPad to stream audio to the iPad itself but its like $15 bucks. Any way what I'm trying to achieve is the following : I work at a Church and i'm trying to develop an option where I can store audio and video files in "One Box" and have the ability to have other people that have audio or video needs to play from that one source. Perfect example is Sunday School for kids. They are always looking for a DVD that is misplaced somewhere and cannot find it or play audio in another room. The Vortexbox offers me this possible solution at least on the video side of things. We will be starting a new building project soon and I had in mind using something like a vortexbox and having several smart TV's that could connect to the Vortexbox and play the video needs thru VB

This is one of the reasons that I use the vortexbox here at home. I have all my media in one location, I can stream to any device, and it cost me only the time and effort to configure properly. I do not have to go and look for my media files anymore, they are on the vortexbox. I did not have to upgrade any of my Television's, I purchased a couple of Sony Media Streamers that have analog outputs for under $80.00us.
