    ....also to note; I have already had usb sound output with VB player, but now it is gone; however I have never tried to use alsamixer and I also have never seen it before.....

    Christian, create the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf with the following content:
    Code:
    options snd slots=snd-hda-intel,snd-usb-audio
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias snd-card-1 snd-usb-audio
    Also create a /etc/asound.conf with the following content:

    Code:
    pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave.pcm {
        type hw
        card 1
    }
}

ctl.!default {
    type hw           
    card 1
}
    Reboot the system and run the following command:
    # aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav

    Also, show us the output of: # ls -l /proc/asound

    ....hi, thank you for the prompt hint: however I already fail at the beginning: I donīt know how to "create" the file you are mentioning. When I enter into putty /etc/...... I get a failure notice that no such folder exists..
    Can you please give me a detailed, step-by-step instruction after I have loggin in on putty.

    Thanks for appreciating my beginner status :-)

    Let's start with /etc/modprobe.d/als-base.conf

    Login as root and type the following command:

    Before you go ahead one tip: Use the [tab] key on your keyboard to auto complete the folders: /e [tab] will result in /etc/ and then modpro [tab] results in /etc/modprobe.d/

    echo "options snd slots=snd-hda-intel,snd-usb-audio" > /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

    See if this works?
