    Help: Wont boot after upgrade

I did an upgrade tonight and now my VB wont boot. It hangs on a screen that says

APEI: Can not request iomem region <blah> for GARs
Kernel panic - not syncing : VFS: Unable to mount root fs
    Pid: 1, comm: swapper/0 Not tainted 3.2.7-1.fc16.PAE #1

I'm guessing the Kernel got upgraded and something happened. I noticed that a cleanup failed during the upgrade. I rebooted as I saw the kernel was upgraded.

Not sure what to do now?

Google to the rescue. I found how to boot to an older version of the kernel. I then force re-installed the latest kernel and all is working now. I have also cleaned up all the old kernels except the last two. This freed up quite a bit of space on /boot.

See http://vortexbox.org/threads/3429-Up...g-Kernel-panic for previous reports of this problem.

Interesting. How many old kernels did you have in /boot? VortexBox is set up to keep only the three most recent kernels. Did you have more?

I think I had 3 kernels but when I force installed the newest one I accidentily installed the non PAE one and had 4 for a while.
