Beets on vortexbox?

I stumbeled accross beets and it seems to fit well in with vortexbox.
I tag all my music with muscibraninz so this would be perfect to me.

Any one managed to set it up on their vortexbox?
I'll try to install it in the coming week and report back here.

beets looks interesting; please report your experience installing it on your VortexBox.

bliss, which is already available on VortexBox, has similar features. See http://www.blisshq.com. You can install bliss from the VB Upgrade page http://vortexbox/upgrade.php.

beets has additional features not available in bliss, so it is worth checking out.

This is a really awesome program! I have it going right now testing on a couple of copies to clean up old iTunes rip tags from the early days. It looks like someone even made a lyrics plugin too. I am fenangling with the web server plugin right now to get it working.

How did you get it to install? I cannot get the python-dev to install via yum.

Has anyone tried Beets enough yet to make a call - Bliss vs. Beets? I just installed Bliss and now it wants $$ to continue plying its trade. I am not against paying, but don't want to pay for Bliss and then find that I would be better off with Beets.

I have not tried beets, but based on the wiki article and other documentation I can say this:

* beets has a command-line install process
* bliss can be installed with one click in the VB GUI

* beets has a config file that you have to edit
* bliss is configured through its web interface

* beets requires command-line operations to carry out its functions
* bliss is completely controlled through its web interface

* beets is free but accepts PayPal or Amazon donations
* bliss gives you 100 free fixes, then you pay for more

* both beets and bliss are being actively developed

So I suggest trying both and see what you think. I have used bliss to find and upgrade cover art in my music library, and it's excellent for this task.

bliss is far simpler to install and use, but is it worth paying for? You'll have to decide.

That's a pretty good run down Ron.

I will add that both bliss and beets satisfy my OCD needs. Both beets and bliss can use acoustic fingerprinting. However, with the problems mentioned in this thread, getting the proper acoustic-fingerprinting tools installed for the chroma plugin is quite a hassle. I think beets is great from a power user perspective because plugins are so easy to write in python.
