Fast Upgrade to VB 2.0 from the Command Line

Nice going, Darren. I think you are the first to successfully use the new CLI upgrade procedure on real hardware. This is confirmation that the Fedora fix to F14 preupgrade really works.

Glad you were able to get around the problem of a small /boot partition. I had the same issue with my VBA (194 MB /boot).

Fast Upgrade to VB 2.0 from the Command Line

Stupid question: I have a Vortexbox Appliance purchased from Andrew with 6TB (3 2TB drives that are treated as if they are a single drive). Is this a RAID system that I can't do an update on? Or is this NOT actually a raid system.

And if it is a RAID system (raid=0???) can I do the CL update using f14 > f15 > f16 rather than the fast udpate? Thanks for any help.

Fast Upgrade to VB 2.0 from the Command Line

I believe I read somewhere (can not find it back) that you need more than 512MB internal memory for VB 2.0 / Fedora 16. I installed VB 1.1 / Fedora 14 with only 192MB internal memory. My system can handle max 512MB, so it sounds like it is better not to upgrade.*Can anybody confirm this? If true, why the enormous increase in necessary memory? Can this be a bug, or did something substantially change?

Users have reported that you need at least 768 MB RAM to install the VB 2.0 ISO.

This memory requirement is hard-coded in the Fedora 16 Installer and cannot be changed, according to Andrew.

I don't know the reason for this requirement.

Additional question: And while I'm asking, is it possible to do a complete install from the ISO disk and get back to my 6TB?* In the distant past, it seems Andrew said it would take some special commands to make this work. Can anyone confirm that there are some options on the ISO "new" install that would allow me to setup with the VB seeing a single 6TB drive (from the 3 2TB drives).* Thanks.

Intel D510MO with 2 GB memory. There has been a boot problem with this hardware, after turning on you have to do a reset. Does not matter because it's usually allways on...and I'm too lazy to investigate the problem.

But I love this system with Logitech Touch!

I have the same processor in my system and was having some problems with 2.0 installation (wouldn't boot properly after ISO install). A simple BIOS update solved it. Check the Intel support page when you get around to it.

I've been using an older Intel Atom D945GCLF2. The VB 2.0 ISO install failed with the boot issue, and updating the bios to the latest didn't help. The "fast upgrade" path did work - thanks!
