Question about Spotify Plugin

Need some help guys. I have*VB*1.10,LMS7.7 running on a server and I stream to a PC connected to*sound system. I have loaded the Spotify plugin into LMS but cannot get it to play. It finds all of my playlists etc. but when I select a track - no sound. I have tried Softsqueeze, squeezeplay and squeezeslave. The first two report they are unable to play the file - squeezeslave doesn't report anything. I have tried the official Spotify plugin and the Triode plugin

I can stream BBC or any other internet station OK.

Any thoughts or other players (that I can control from iPeng and Squeezecontrol) I could try please?

First I needed to un-install the official Spotify plugin and use the Triode Plugin. Not have both installed as the official Spotify pluging does not work with s/w players and prevents the Triode plugin from playing files.

The Triode plugin works fine with Softsqueeze and Squeezeplay but does not work with Squeezeslave.

Can anyone verify that this third party plugin will work with spotify with the vortexbox player thru the web interface without a hardware player. I have a client that has a spotify premium account, and would like to use spotify with the vortexbox.

Spotify requires a player that supports direct streaming. It doesn't work with Squeezeslave, so it won't work with VortexBox Player either. See http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...l=1#post580351

I don't know if Andrew plans to implement direct streaming in VortexBox Player, but I doubt it. My guess is that it's not trivial to do this.

VortexBox Player was written by Max Kellermann, the developer of MPD. I believe Andrew contracted this work to Max. If you were willing to pay for the development, perhaps Andrew would consider it if Max were available to do it, and Max knew how to do it.

VortexBox Player is written in the C programming language. I'm not sure if Andrew has the requisite C programming skills or detailed understanding of the VortexBox Player code and direct streaming to do it himself.

As I said before, this is a non-trivial development.

Thanks for the info Ron. It would be nice to update the Vortexbox Player code to support direct streaming, Triode's Spotify Plugin works with SoftSqueeze, and it would be really great if the Vortexbox Player would support Direct Streaming as well.
