Can't copy files from PC to Vortexbox

Hi,


I have succesfully installed Vortexbox 0.8, but I have some minor issues/questions:


1. I can't copy files from my Windows PC to folders in the "files" library. Both the PC and Vortexbox has "WORKGROUP" set, but I seem I don't have write permissions. Could any one give me a quick tutorial in setting up the access rights so I can copy my mp3 files to Vortexbox?


2. Is it possible to add extra usb-harddisk in addition to two existing sata-discs?

you should be able to access your VortexBox usr start -> run -> //varotebox or search //vortexbox if you have vista. You can also try //ipaddress of your VortexBox. Check out this doc for adding an adtional disk http://vortexbox.org/documenta.....vortexbox/

Thanks for the quick answer.


I have already started the Vortexbox, and I appears automaticly in iTunes and the network drives are shown in Explorer. I can read but not write to the folders. I have tried solve it by setting CHMOD 777 on the folders, buy I did not change anything. I suspect it is problem with access rigths, users and NT workgroups, but I don't know how to solve it.

think you need write to the files share and not the or music folder at they are write protected

another option you might care to try, open stw called : winscp


thru it you log-in as root


and have all the priveleges (and dangers) thereof,


along with a pretty nice (simple) drag-n-drop gui

only the folder in //vortexbox/files have write access. is there where you are trying to write?

Hi Andrew,


I changed the settings in the smb.conf for the subfolders, and now it works just fine.


I am a linux newbie, so I took a bit of reading up on Fedora :-)
