Upgrade to Logitech Media Server 7.7.0

    Ron Olsen said:

I updated Andrew's original post to list additional commands needed to fix problems with the LMS 7.7.0 install:

    upgrade-to-logitech-media-server-7-7-0

This updated procedure should now work to install LMS 7.7.0 over an existing SBS installation, start LMS, and have LMS autostarted at boot time.

Ron, sorry to butt into this thread but do either or both these extra commands also apply to section 5 (upgrading to LMS 7.7) on the wiki entry "How To Upgrade from VortexBox 1.10 to VortexBox 2.0 Using the Command Line"?

    As always, many thanks

NO. The wiki instructions are all that you need.

Upgrade to Logitech Media Server 7.7.0

I have moved my issue from the 2.0 upgrade thread to here since my upgrade to 2.0 went smooth except for my LMS scanning crash.

After trying just about everything I decided to copy a portion of my flac folder to a new flac1 folder, delete all .jpg files in the flac1 folder and try a rescan.

Well that finally worked, so for some reason LMS doesn't like my .jpg files.

I guess I need to delete all .jpgs from my flac folder now.

Does anyone have experience with the Get Cover Art function of VB and LMS?

It's probably a specific .jpg that the LMS scanner doesn't like; not all of them.

You could try turning on LMS scanner debug logging and see if you can figure out which one.

The VortexBox get cover art function sometimes gets incorrect art, but it's a good place to start.

I use bliss to find and upgrade cover art: http://blisshq.com.

I also like to download top-quality cover art from http://www.albumartexchange.com.
Their 600x600 images look great on my iPad using the SqueezePad and iPeng apps.

Upgrade to Logitech Media Server 7.7.0

I waited a long time since Post edited 12:37 am – November 6, 2011 by Ron Olsen until I got a chance to update to 7.7.*

Everything I have checked is giving no problems.

    Thanks it worked perfectly.

If you're running LMS 7.7.0, you should upgrade via the VB GUI to pick up LMS 7.7.1. It's a big improvement over 7.7.0 with ~30 bug fixes.

    Thanks for the support.

Is that the upgrade via the icon that looks like a cardboard carton?

I was afraid that would go to 2.0 and I have not read enough to be comfortable with that step yet.

yes, the "cardboard box". If you're running 1.10, it won't upgrade you to 2.0. It will just upgrade any 1.10 updates and LMS 7.7.1

Upgrade to Logitech Media Server 7.7.0

Click on the "cardboard box" icon (bottom left), which will take you to the VB GUI Upgrade page http://vortexbox/upgrade.php.

Then click the "Start Upgrade" button.
