    Problem with SB radio

    Hi

    *

I am running Squeezebox server from by Vortexbox and have a Squeezebox classic and Squeezebox radio. Internet radio via Squeezenetwork works fine on both. However when I try to switch to the Squeezebox server (to access my music) I cannot also connect to radio stations. Would anyone know what the problem is here ?

    Many thanks

Hi, *Go to your squeezeserver page on the vortexbox. *On the "settings" page (bottom right icon) go to the mysqueezbox tab and enter your credentials there.

    Problem with SB radio

Thanks I tried this. When I try to connect to internet radio I get "couldn't resolve ip address for:www.mysqueezebox.com".

    Any other suggestions ?

    Thanks

    Problem with SB radio

DNS in SqueezeBox Server is not working.

Does your VortexBox have Internet access and working DNS?

    What does

    ping -c3 mysqueezebox.com
    show?

If this is successful, try stopping and restarting SqueezeBox Server.

If this is not successful, try rebooting your VB.

Thanks for this. I havent got access to the command line just at the moment. But I tried a restart of the VBA without any luck. Could it be because I am using single IP addressing for it or due to a firewall problem ?

    Many thanks again.

    Problem with SB radio

After the reboot, did the VortexBox come up on your network?

Do you know the VB IP address?

Does the VB use DHCP, reserved DHCP address in your router, or static IP address?

I don't know what "single IP addressing" means. Do you mean "static IP address" ?

Can you access the VB GUI from a browser?

Can you access the SBS web page from a browser?

Can you access SBS from another control device (IR remote, mobile app)?

Can you access the VB Samba shares from Windows Explorer (PC) or Finder (Mac)?

What machine are you using to access the VB? Windows? Mac?

You say you can't access the command line "at the moment". Why not?

Are you experiencing more problems than not being able to access Internet radio from SBS? If so, what?

More details would help to diagnose your issues.

    Problem with SB radio

    Hi

    In answer:

Yes the vortexbox is visible and is working.
It is on a static IP address which seemed to make it easier to find and stabler in the past.
I can access the GUI and the SBS webpage.
I am primarily using Mac computers. I can access the command line but have to go and get equipment stored elsewhere (USB keyboard / monitor) to do so was trying to find a simpler solution first!

Essentially the vortexbox seems to be working fine. The squeezebox is also working and I can play songs from the vortexbox on it. When I switch to mysqueezebox.com on the Squeezebox I can play radio. However when I switch back ('Connect to Squeezebox server') I am unable to access live radio, even using favourite presets (getting messages saying problems resolving IP address).

    Any ideas ? Thanks again

You can use the Mac Terminal app to log in to VortexBox. *See How To Login to your VortexBox. Log in and try the "ping -c3 mysqueezebox.com" command and see if it works. *Also, please post the output from

    cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

    to check your networking setup.

If stopping and restarting SBS does not solve the problem, try posting on the Slim Devices forum: http://forums.slimdevices.com. Lots of SqueezeBox experts there who may be able to help.

    Problem with SB radio

One thing you can try if you are so inclined is to*verify version numbers as problems can happen*when you*access mysqueezebox.com under one version*number*and then you*access*the vortexbox*squeezebox server software under another version number. You are still using the same radio facilities whether you are under one umbrella or the other. I don't think you can access squeezebox radio with 2 different versions of same software*using the same ip address, mac address, and/or device etc because the software needs a user name and password to access this radio service. Would seem to cause conflicts to me, but this is not saying you are doing this here.

    Problem with SB radio

thanks for your replies and I might try the slimdevices forum as well.

    The ping c3 command returns
    "ping: unknown host mysqueezebox.com"

    Does this help?
