    Quality of MP3 encoding

This Sunday is the big event, I am putting vortexbox on a machine and will start ripping my CDs.

I am going to go with a 320kbps MP3 AND a FLAC encoding, however what is the quality of the MP3 encoding via vortexbox, from the little i've read it seems that lame is an excellent MP3 encoder, so how does VB compare with that?

    Thanks

    Quality of MP3 encoding

VortexBox uses lame to encode to mp3.

I recommend ripping to FLAC (the default), then using the VB FLAC mirror to create the mp3s.

You can specify the desired mp3 bitrate on the FLAC mirror page (default 190 kbps VBR).
