Just thought I'd post a message to let anyone that is interested know that I was successful in using a hard drive dock and bare hard drive to plug into a USB socket on the vortexbox to use to back up my vortexbox music database. The dock and hard drive installed without hitch/incident and my database is backed up finally and my mind is at rest.

Each and every update to vortexbox I cringed*wondering if this was going to be the "big one" where I would lose my database after tons of work organizing. This dock/drive upgrade was long over due and my gambling skills with these kind of things is spotty at best. I did wonder when purchasing this "stuff" if it was going to be compatible with the vortexbox as everything as far as written*specifications goes with hardware now days it seems*to leave Linux out of the equation for compatibility documentation. I guess Windows and Mac are all that exist concerning hardware upgrades.

However; one note, as one still has to use the format button on the GUI even though the drive comes preformatted correctly. Must have something to do with the file vortexbox installs on the drive is my guess.

Thanks to Andrew*for the*GUI for making this as*easy and painless as possible. Some of us are new to Linux and sometimes that comes without a compass and bearing.*
