File Permissions/Rip Speed

Rip speed: mine is so very slow. I have a Dell Optiplex 270 with a slimline CD/DVD ROM and it's taking forever – any ideas? Someone suggested getting a new drive but since it's IDE and slimline there isn't much out there..

This is a very old machine. It's not surprising that rips are very slow. *I wouldn't spend more money upgrading something this old. *I think you'll be far better off running VortexBox software on modern hardware.

You have several choices:

1. Buy a VortexBox Appliance for a ready-to-run system:
