Update via the VB GUI and you will pick up the vortexbox-1.9 package which has Blu-ray ripping enabled with no changes needed to the code.

No metadata is retrieved for Blu-ray DVDs, as mentioned in my previous post. Hopefully, Andrew can add this capability in a future update.

Do we have to purchase a MakeMKV license for this to work?

Yes, a license is required for Blu-ray ripping in MakeMKV, after a 30-day free trial. *See*http://makemkv.com/buy/ for details.

Note: Andrew does not get any income from this; it's all between you and MakeMKV. *If anyone knows of a free Blu-ray ripper that runs headless on Fedora Linux, I'm sure Andrew would be happy to use it.

A command-line version of mediainfo is available in the VortexBox repository. You can install it via

    yum install mediainfo

How do you apply the license to MakeMKV in VB?

Mediainfo claims it gets bluray metadata.

Don't know; I'm still on the 30-day free trial and haven't bought a license. You could ask in the MakeMKV forum about this: http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/.....um.php?f=3

Mediainfo claims it gets bluray metadata.

The command-line version of mediainfo that's available in the VB repository displays audio and video info from the files it processes, and works fine on .mkv files containing Blu-ray rips. *If there is metadata (tag) info in the file, it will also display it.

    Thanks for the tip.

However, blurip is a Windows-only program, so it can't be used on VortexBox.

I have a Digistor DIG-79102 USB BD/DVD Writer that I've used to rip Blu-ray DVDs on my Mac and on my VBA. Seems to work well.
