    Vortexbox player and Squeezeslave Disappearing

After installing Squeezeslave to get gapless play on Squeezeserver it showed both players, but a couple of times now both have gone leaving it marked Vortexbox as the player, not Vortexbox Player. I've had to go to Configure Vortexbox Player and hit the Submit button – not change anything – and they both reappear and work fine?

Just been looking on Squeezeserver and it reckons I've got 3 players?

    Squeezeslave

    Player Model: Squeezeslave
    Player IP Address: 127.0.0.1
    Player MAC Address: 00:04:20:00:00:10

    VortexBox

    Player Model: Squeezeslave
    Firmware: 3
    Player IP Address: 127.0.0.1
    Player MAC Address: 00:04:20:00:00:01

    VortexBox Player

    Player Model: Squeezeslave
    Player IP Address: 127.0.0.1
    Player MAC Address: 00:04:20:94:e1:b8
Is that right? I don't remember it saying that before.

Just switched it back on after being out and it says this: -

    Player Information

Information on all identified devices connected to Squeezebox Server

    VortexBox

    Player Model: Squeezeslave
    Firmware: 3
    Player IP Address: 127.0.0.1
    Player MAC Address: 00:04:20:00:00:01
    Nothing else

Don't know why your player name has changed. I've seen this funkiness before and can't explain why it happens.

Go to the SBS->Settings->Player->VortexBox->Basic Settings page and change the "Player Name" field from "VortexBox" to whatever you want it to be, and click "Apply".

I have tried this already and it makes it work, but when I turned Vba off and back on later it had gone back to just saying the player was Vortexbox - not Vortexbox Player. When its ok it usually says Squeezeslave and Vortexbox Player but I seem to have gained Vortexbox?

I'll try again and see what happens over night.

You can save yourself a lot of problems by leaving the VBA on 24×7. That's what I do with mine. It consumes very little power. No point in turning it off every night. Once things are working the way you want, don't mess with it by rebooting every day.

Also, login to your account on mysqueezebox.com to see what your player names are.

You may have to fix things there as well.

Doesn't come natural to leave things on when I'm not using them but I guess I'll try it. I'll check Squeezebox.com tomorrow when I'm more awake. Thanks for your assistance once again.

Back again. Started up everything tonight with the intention of leaving it on - opened up Squeezeserver and Squeezeslave has stayed put! I didn't do anything so who knows! I tried to check what was on Squeezebox.com but from settings it appears to be permanently logged in but reckons I have no player registered. I changed the password but if I type it into settings it just deletes it so I clicked that I forgotten the password thats when it appears to be already logged in. I don't have a hardware player of any sort so if I need to how do I register a software player? If its not easy I'll get onto the Squeeze forum and leave you alone
