    DVD not ripped

You need the DVD decryption library:

    yum install libdvdcss2

Andrew: this library should be a dependency in the vortexbox rpm.

Actually for legal reasons, it I don't think it should be included, even as a dependency. In the US, breaking DVD encryption is still illegal. As some development of VB is occurring in the States, it is critical that libdvdcss2 never be installed by default by the VB distribution.

It is usually fine to give instructions on how to install libdvdcss2 manually. Then the legal onus falls upon the person that installs libdvdcss2 - it is up to the individual manually installing libdvdcss2 to ensure that they are legally permitted to use this program in their jurisdiction. (Any wiki entry with these entries must clearly state this legal issue.)

This is common practice with a lot of customized distributions. MythTV is an example of the custom package that does not EVER install libdvdcss2 even though it uses it - you need to manually install it to get the ability to decrypt DVDs. Heck distributions like Fedora 14 also never have libdvdcss2 installed for the same legal reason.

    Cheers.

The instructions are in my previous post.

Login to VortexBox as root and type

    yum install libdvdcss2

Please clear the Auto Ripper log before you rip, try the rip, then post the entire

contents of the Auto Ripper Log (/var/log/cdrip.log) in your next post. The complete log did not show up in your earlier post. Seeing all of this data is crucial to debugging your problem.

Are you using the official vortexbox software? What does

    rpm -q vortexbox

    show?

There is a bug in the official software. To fix the problem:

Edit /opt/vortexbox/docd.sh and change the line

    /usr/bin/makemkvcon mkv ----decrypt ----progress=-stdout dev:$CDDEVICE $DVDMAINMOVIEMIN1 /storage/tmp/ripper.tmp >> /var/log/cdrip.log

    to

    /usr/bin/makemkvcon mkv ----minlength=0 --decrypt --progress=-stdout dev:$CDDEVICE $DVDMAINMOVIEMIN1 /storage/tmp/ripper.tmp >> /var/log/cdrip.log

    and restart the Auto Ripper.
