    VortexBox on Fedora 14

I can confirm CZESLAVUs's experience with the stuttering at the beginning of FLAC's.

I experience squirting noices during WMA Radio playback as well.

As reported earlier i experienced two other problems which i have overcome.

The first conserning no sound from VortexBox Player i believe was fixed by an update package.

The other problem conserning no status for services in the service manager, was probably because i by during advanced setup, which was the only setup method that didn't err, chose danish language. After i changed language to english in the i18n file everything was fine.

Hi - I'm willing to help beta test this. Can I just ask - I assume, because it's based on Fedora 14, that it will align 4k drives properly?

I've just bought a couple of Samsung AFD 2Tb drives which I want to install in my VB as RAID0, so if this beta will allow me to do that then great, I'm in!

moley6knipe, two drive in raid 0 is supported and you just select the option from a pop up screen. Not sure about your other question, but it should be ok.

Andrew, the mpd update is working like a champ! Revise the md5sum when you have a chance.

Ron, +1 on the "nice work" to Andrew! I can tell you he has been working really hard on this this release!!

I succeeded to install as a virtual machine on VirtualBox. Except from autoripping everything seems to work at the moment. I guess autoripping won't work because this is a virtual machine?

The only thing problematic was starting the VortexBox-player. I am not sure as I tried many things but I think it started working after I clicked the submit button on the player page.

Other thing I am still testing to see if everything is OK.

I have only one question regarding partitioning of the disk, I only configured a small 10GB virtual disk and after installation there is only one VG/LV mounted as /. Will the installation procedure on the VB appliace still create a sepparate LV for /storage?

Otherwise I like VBA very much - VERY nice work!

    Hi,

I did a bare metal install using VB 1.5 fc14.iso on my "spare" VB atom based hardware.

Running fine with 13,548 songs. VB player did seem to require a kick start with "submit" to get going (it was not auto started as a service on the first or second boot until "submitted" as hw:0,0)

Andrew, thanks for moving Vortexbox forward.

There was a bug in mpd that was causing vortexbox-player to fail. This is now resolved. Just do an update.

Yes I can confirm now mpd works ok apart from these errors

Nov 15 20:20 : flac: flac crc mismatch
Nov 15 20:20 : flac: flac lost sync

Currently the stuttering is very little and only on the beginning of each FLAC - previously I used vortexbox 1.3 with the atom230 board but the same cheap CMedia USB card and neither stuttering occured nor such errors in var/log/mpd.log

That's a problem. Update again and see if that error goes away.
