No Sound from Xonar Card on VB Player

    Hi everyone!

Installed VB on a spare PC fitted with Asus Xonar D2 audio card.

    CD ripping works fine.

can see the Vortexbox on my network OK.

Have connected the analog out from the Xonar card to the hifi system, but when trying to play a track using the squeezebox server there is no sound output, even though squeezebox server shows the VB player and the volume bar is on max.

    Any ideas what to do?

    Thanks

You need to look at the Vortexbox player icon and see if the card is listed , then you need to tell vb player which device to use hopefully it will list an analogue output. The nomeclature to replace default is hw:0,0 for device 0 with output 0. You change the first number for the device and the second for the required output type

The correct device is hw:0,0 however can you from CLI run alsamixer to see if the output is muted or the volume set low CLI via ssh or attached monitor

Only problem still is that each time I boot the VB, I have to go back into alsamixer and adjust the output volume again. Is there a way of sving the mixer settings?

What is the Alsamixer that needs to be changed?

    To save alsamixer settings:

    1) Make your changes in aslamixer

    2) Press esc to exit alsamixer

    3) In command line type alsactl store

    4) Press enter

Your settings should now survive any reboot

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I am getting my Xonar STX repeatedly reverting to the speaker output, not the headphone output. Alsamixer can set it back to headphones, but I get no sound output.

aplay -l would indicate that I should be using hw=0,0 to give me analogue output, but the card throws a relay and goes to speaker output, not headphone output.

    Anyone got a suggestion? Thanks
