    Update Squeezecenter and Beta versions

    Hi,

I can's seem to update Squeezecenter.

I have installed Votexbox on an Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU 330 @ 1.60GHz MSI motherboard system. It seems to be running OK, I can rip CDs and play music.

However, the Squeezecenter server log is filling up with multiple messages:
[09-04-28 10:11:15.5932] Slim::Utils::Firmware::downloadAsyncError (534) Warning: Firmware: Failed to download http://update.squeezenetwork.com/update/firmware/7.3.2/jive_7.3_r3993.bin.sha (Validation of firmware /var/lib/squeezecenter/cache/jive_7.3_r3993.bin failed, SHA1 checksum did not match), will try again in 10 minutes.

I tried to force an update from the command line, yum –enablerepo=squeezecenter-testing update squeezecenter. I get this error message: Warning: rpmts_HdrFromFdno: Header V4 DSA signature: NOKEY, Key ID 4123722a squeezecenter-release/gpgkey Public key for squeezecenter-repo-1-6.noarch.rpm is not installed

Restarting SqueezeCenter service did not help. Rebooting the Vortexbox made no difference.

    So I seem to be stuck at SqueezeCenter Version: 7.3.2 - 24695 @ Mon Jan 19 16:57:28 PST 2009.

Any thoughts on how to update SqueezeCenter/why the upgrade process is failing?

    Thanks,

Seems like somthing may have been dorked up someplace. That can happen with BETA versions sometimes. Maybe try uninstall SqueezeCenter and reinstalling it.

    rpm -del --nodeps squeezecenter

    yum –enablerepo=squeezecenter-testing install squeezecenter

    Update Squeezecenter and Beta versions

To close the loop on this topic:

I beleive this problem was related to Fedora Ethernet adapter install issue; bad public key and routing issues.

When I first installed Vortexbox 0.6, there were several eth0 errors during Fedora setup. I kept hitting retry and they finally went away. This was probably the start of the problem.

After the problems with updates I wondered if the VortexBox could connect to software repositories. It could not do this reliably. I diagnosed this by root/command line pinging and traceroute to known sites and seeing wierd results and non connection.

Bottom line - I did a fresh reinstall of Vortexbox with no errors on initial eth0, ethernet adpter setup.

    Updates now work OK.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

Sounds like there might have been an error duing the upgrade. Glad to hear you have it fixed.

Follow on to the issue above.

I am unable to get a fresh install of Vortexbox with a fixed IP to route reliably after any reboot.

If I use system-config-network and choose a fixed IP, the my local router is selected as the DNS server. I can see it in /etc/resolv.conf. My Vortexbox routes to the internet OK. Untill I reboot.

However, after a reboot, I can route locally but not to the internet. I have discovered that the entry for the DNS server is now blank, in /etc/resolv.conf. If I manually (nano) edit /etc/resolv.conf and use Open DNS (208.6.222.222) the Vortexbox routes to the internet OK, Until I reboot.

I believe this might be related to a bug in Fedora 10 (see reference below)

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...t=51672&page=5 ”F10's stock system-config-network and system-config-network-tui contains a bad bug where by the NETMASK value is incorrectly saved”

    Any suggestions or comments?

Interesting. For some reason I didn't have that problem here. Hopefully they will have that bug fixed soon.

    I'm having trouble updating too.

The package downloads ok. But when I enter:

    um --enablerepo=squeezecenter-testing update squeezecenter

    I get:

    Downloading Packages:
warning: rpmts_HdrFromFdno: Header V4 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 4123722a
    squeezecenter-testing/gpgkey | 958 B 00:00

Public key for squeezecenter-7.3.3-0.1.26303.noarch.rpm is not installed

I think I solved this myself:

    [vortexbox.localdomain ~]# rpm --import http://repos.slimdevices.com/yum/squeezecenter/RPM-GPG-KEY-SqueezeCenter

    Regards,

    Matt
