    Getting Player working

Hi, I've used VB for a while now but never needed the Vortexbox player. Now I do and I could do with some advice.

    I have upgraded to 1.5

In the GUI system config it says Vortexbox player stopped. I click start but nothing happens.

I went into the dos thingy, and typed setup-vb-player and it did some stuff and then there were a few lines one of which said 'nothing to do',; then some PHP warnings about not being able to open streams in fopen(etc/vortexbox-playe/mac-list.conf) in line 20 and 24 and there being no such file as /opt/vortexbox.mp-conf - I'm abbreviating. Then some more lines about fwrite and fclose, and them not valid stream resources in lines 49,50,56 and 57; and finally some PHP notice lines about undefined indexes: mac and name in line 70.

Bottom line, I go into Squeezebox and there's no vortexbox player.

Now, you may be able to tell I have no idea what all this means, and I should say that as yet I have no DAC or anything plugged into my player - I just wanted to see that it works in software before I commit to buying dac, amp and speakers.

What am I doing wrong and will it all come to life when I plug a DAC into the USB?

Please help. I love my vortexbox but I have no clue what's really going on under the bonnet and it's not what you'd call easy to follow.

    Update

After calming down and reading further posts I've implemented some command lines and it now appears to be working.

As previously I have both vortexbox player and something called Music Player Daemon 0.16- from 127.0.0.1 listed within squeezebox server, which I presume to be its evil twin.

Wish I could help, but I'm having the same (or a similar) problem and may know less than you do. Here are the error messages I got when I ran setup-vb-player:

    I'm running VB 1.6/Fedora 14, which I installed from a disk.

What command lines did you add, and where?

    Thanks for any help.

Sould like you need to go into the VortexBox Player GUI and press submit.
