    Vortexbox and classical music.

    Hi all

I have just got my Vortexbox working and started ripping my collection of classical music CD's. I am having a problem with the artwork.

The Vortexbox is searching for artwork, but it seems to find the wrong artwork abut 50% of the time. In some cases it finds nothing, which is OK for me, but when it finds the wrong artwork I hace deleted it from the containg folder only to find it is back again later!

How can I stop Vortexbox from replacing the deleted incorrect artwork?

I have also found some of my classical CD's are ripped to a folder called 'Unknown_Artist_Unknown_Album' with the tracks tagged in the same manner, but it has still found the wrong artwork! In every unknown album case so far a nice cover picture of Cecilia Bartoli's Vivaldi album

    Thanks

    Martin

    Yes, the Cecilia picture...

I've ripped about 4000 CD's so far, about 3500 of them classical. There's no getting around it - classical is very labor-intensive to deal with. First, you need to figure out an organizational scheme that works for you and stick with it. There are several schemes espoused on various threads both here and on the Squeezebox forum. Consistency is key or you'll never find what you've ripped. If you can't find it, it may as well not be there.

Then there's the issue of tagging itself. Many titles don't appear in any of the databases (FreeDB, musicbrainz, etc). Other times the information is returned in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Cyrillic, or in various European languages which will create inconsistencies in your tags if you're not very careful. Needless to say, tagging is by far the most labor-intensive part of my operation. In order not to drown in a backlog of untagged entries, my scheme does not attempt to deal with smaller works or individual movements. As for the artwork - I will sometimes take the trouble to download the artwork from the web. More often than not, I also see Cecilia's beautiful face staring at me promising that some day I'll find the time to straighten all of this out.

Enjoy, and welcome to the world of Vortexbox!

To stop VortexBox from replacing the artwork you just need to put the correct artwork in the directory of the album. Just download the artwork or scan it in and save it as cover.jpg.
