You probably also have libfaad2-2.7-18 installed, which is required by squeezelite-1.0-6. However, squeezelite-1.1-1 requires faad2-libs, not libfaad2. This name change is what's breaking the VB...
Yes. You can't upgrade to squeezelite-1.1-1 since the required faad2-libs package is not available.
Andrew should revert the VB repo back to the older version of squeezelite (1.0-6) which does not...
Andrew has added mplayer to the vortexbox repository, so it is still available. However, ffmpeg is not available from the ATrpms F16 repository, since that repo no longer exists. The setup-mplayer...
The VB GUI script that installs Plex Media Server (/opt/vortexbox/package-scripts/install-plex.sh) tries to install a number of ATrpms packages which are no longer available since ATrpms removed...
Any error messages in /var/log/squeezeboxserver/server.log?
See http://vortexbox.org/threads/4868-Not-Sure-What-Happened-Happening?p=31600&viewfull=1#post31600 for the fix.
Use
yum localinstall package_filename or
rpm -ivh package_filename to install local rpm packages. Use the filename, not just the package name.

1. Fedora 16 reached end of life on Feb 12, 2013. This means that Fedora stopped updating their F16 repositories at that time. So no more updates from the "fedora" and "updates" repos.
2. ATrpms...
Too late to do this now unless you can get the atrpms packages from another source, but I don't think that's very likely unless Andrew can add them to the vortexbox repository.
The only F16 repo still active is vortexbox. To pick up any F16 changes from Andrew:
1. Login to your VB.
2. Enter
yum clean all; yum --disablerepo=atrpms update
When I have some time, I will create a Fedora 18 virtual machine on my Mac and see if the MusicIP binary runs in that environment.

Did you verify the md5sum of your downloaded VB 2.2 ISO image? Many people are running VB 2.2 and are having no trouble with CD/DVD ripping, so it's unlikely that there is a VB 2.2 software fault...
Sounds as if your optical drive might be bad.
Can you rip a CD from the command line using ripit?
See http://info.vortexbox.org/tiki-index.php?page=HiddenTrack
You can run ripit...
Optical drives can sometimes get into an non-working state, and completely removing power can help:
Power off your VB. Then pull the power plug so the VB is completely without power. Wait 30...
Try unplugging the drive from the VB. Then pull the power plug on the drive, wait 30 seconds, and restore power. Then plug the drive into the VB and try the backup again.
If still no joy, reboot...
This information doesn't tell me much. Try logging into your VB with a program that saves scrolled text. Use Terminal on a Mac, or CryptoTerm on a Windows machine to login to your VB. These programs...
You'll need a monitor and keyboard directly attached to the VB to do the ISO install. You can buy a USB keyboard for about $10 at a computer store. Google "used computer monitor" to find an...
The software on your VB is obsolete. VortexBox 1.5 (released in September 2010) has been updated to version 2.2 (released in November 2012), and Squeezebox Server 7.5.1 has been updated to Logitech...
1. Put the troublesome CD in the optical drive.
2. Log into your VB.
3. Enter
cd-info
4. Report the output in your next post.
Triode's Spotify plugin works fine with my Squeezebox Duet Receiver. My VBA is running VB 2.2, LMS 7.7.2 and Spotify plugin v2.2.12. Are you using this version of Triode's Spotify plugin? If not, go...
Good point. metaflac, the command used by apply_replaygain.pl to compute RG tags, requires a sample rate of 48 kHz or less. I updated the ReplayGain wiki article...
I also use Smart Gain with all my Squeezebox players.
However, I don't think your idea of writing 96/24 downloads to a DVD-R and trying to rip on VortexBox will work. The VB CD ripper expects the...
