Sounds like a bug in your dac. Can you upgrade the firmware and see if it resolves the problem?

The better SPDIF converters have lower jitter so you will get a better sound. If your DAC has good reclocking it shouldn't make that much of a difference.

Linux is case sensitive. Windows is case insensitive. This can cause problems with like the ones your seeing. It's usually something on Windows that causes the problem.
