Hi there,
I recently installed VB0.9 on my server (clean install). I read about an update today regarding the burning of flac files to CD. I decided this could be handy so i tried to get this update.
I logged in using Putty, typed 'yum update' and all that happened was the following:
[vortexbox.localdomain ~]# yum update updates/metalink | 20 kB 00:00 Setting up Update Process Resolving Dependencies –> Running transaction check —> Package cpuspeed.i586 1:1.5-12.fc11 set to be updated —> Package quota.i586 1:3.17-5.fc11 set to be updated —> Package tzdata.noarch 0:2009o-1.fc11 set to be updated –> Finished Dependency Resolution Dependencies Resolved

I tried and let it reboot. This is what it said
10/23/2009 00:49:14 - Starting upgrade. (This can take a long time...)Setting up Update ProcessNo Packages marked for Update10/23/2009 00:49:14 - Upgrade complete. Please reboot your VortexBox.
When i do: rpm -qa | grep vortexbox-0.9 it still gives me:
When i checked the directory Vortexbox on the 0.9 iso, i saw the package vortexbox-release-3-2.noarch.rpm. This package wasn't installed on my Vortexbox. I copied it to a directory on my Vortexbox, and the i did te following:
I tried that first (the 2 lines starting with cp). The yum update gave an error. I ran yum update again. It did not error the second time. However the cp /tmp/…/squeezeboxserver/ said it did nothing (error). ran yum update again. It said there was nothing to do.
Did reboot anyway. And here we are.
I do believe the music is still on my hard drive. But Squeezebox server ()http://192.168.1.9:9000/) only shows Internet Radio, Favorites, and Extras.

Discovered that Server Settings — Basic settings were all blank. Seems like several paths should go here. What are they? Did I lose ALL the default settings?
Looking at the previous posts, it appears risky to do an update to get SqueezeCenter Server v 7.4.1.
Thanks to PvdV and philg for going first and reporting the risks.
Please recommend detailed steps, suitable for Linux noobs like me, to take to ensure a successful Appliance update without the requirement to perform the troubleshooting tasks listed above.
As long as you have 7.4.x there should be no problem moving to another 7.4.x. If you upgrading from SqueezeCenter you need to move the files. The biggest problem with 7.3.x -> 7.4.x is Logitech changed the locations of all the config files.
Even you you don't move the config files over the worst you have to do is enter your music file location and your email address. You have to do this if you load SqueezeBox Server on Mac or Windows as well.
