I am trying to give my VB a static IP address and am following the instructions from here:

Unfortunatelty, when it reboots, it is not using the address I assigned it amd I am getting rather fed up about it.

I am following the instructions so what do you think is going wrong?

This is a bug. We will be fixing it soon. In the mean time you can use system-config-network from command line to set a static IP address.

that is the one I was using and I also tried via the GUI – neither worked.

It is not a major problem as I can find what the ip address is and play files but it is just a pain in the bum and I am lazy Embarassed
