On a network that runs several Windows devices with ZoneAlarm firewalls, is security compromised by using a Linux based Vortexbox on the same network?

I am not aware of any firewall protection on Vortexbox. 

I know that many ports are opened and server rights are granted with Vortexbox and SqueezeCenter running.  How is data protected particularly on the other computers that share the same network with Vortexbox?
