AIFF and Vortexbox

I am considering buying a Vortexbox.

I have ripped 100 CD's in iTunes as AIFF onto my PC. Is it possible to maintain AIFF files when I make the transition to Vortexbox?

Is it possible to continue ripping and saving in AIFF through Vortexbox?

I use the Squeezebox Duet to connect to my system.

I prefer AIFF over FLAC as storage is not an issue any more and I think it will be more future proof….larger is better!?…..less conversion required.

VortexBox can read you existing AIFF files but can not creat new AIFF files. FLAC is the best standard around and it supported by almost everything (except Apple).  VortexBox can create ALAC files (Apples version of FLAC) for use with iTunes. AIFF, FLAC, and ALAC are all lossless so there is no problem converting from one to another without losing anything.
