Hi,

Andrew, SimpllifyMedia seems like a great idea. I had never heard of it before you made it available on vortexboxbeta. I appreciate your focus on getting music to the user in many convenient ways.

I like the idea of streaming to my Iphone, but before I spend 5.99 on the SimplifyMedia App, I have a few questions that I can't immediately find answers for:

Can I listen to "favorites" from squeezecenter on my Iphone via SimplifyMedia? I have quite a few internet radio stations set up in squeezecenter and would want to be able to acces them via Simplify. – I'm not optimistic about this being implemented, simplifymedia would have to "understand" squeezebox favorites.

What's the advantage of SimplifyMedia over SqueezeMobile (or IPeng promised future streaming capabilites) for music? It seems SimplifyMedia offers a central user look-up-server so it can be used remotely (non local) and it shares photos to iPhones. Am I missing anything?

Again, thanks for your continued improvements to Vortexbox. I also appreciate your focus on music – not trying to be all things for all people makes the vortexbox a success in its niche.

Hi,

Installed SimplifyMedia on my Vortexbox. I'm not sure its working, on my functional VB appliance.

I now see an icon on the VB home page for SimplifyMedia, but when I click on it to configure SimplifyMedia, I am redirected to http://myvortexboxIP/simplifymedia.php. However I get a 404 Not Found message -The requested URL /simplifymedia.php was not found on this server.. The rest of VB seems to be running.

I have rebooted my VB. However when I query the simplifymedia service for its status (guessed at the name) I get /etc/init.d/simplifymedia: line 13: /etc/vortexbox/SimplifyMediaConfig.txt: No such file or directory
SimplifyMedia is stopped…

Any suggestions?

Hi,

User error! Installation at first was bad.

I had copied and pasted the first yum command, yum -–enablerepo=vortexboxbeta update, from the forum. I had not noticed that the – was replaced by a . ( it was pasted as yum .–enablerepo=vortexboxbeta update) So the update was not performed. I then installed simplifymedia on a VB not ready for it.

I fixed the problem.

I completed the yum beta update and the installed SimplifyMedia is now ready to be configured.

Sitll unsure if I'm willing to buy the Iphone app.

Simplify Media only streams mp3s so it has nothing to do with SC. You can't use your favorites etc. The biggest advantage is you can access your music from anywhere. Such as the office or a coffee shop.
