So follow up. It looks like the update is the problem. I installed from iso on another system, and all the apps show up properly in the my apps section. But on the system i had yum updated, if the app wasnt in my apps before (which changed between version 7.0 to 7.5 at some point) it didnt get added.

So the point that i was trying to get to work which is VBP regsitering on the mysqueezebox.com site, is still not happening. But that is not so bad, as long as the app in on the appliance doesnt complain, which it isnt on the fresh install. But the upgrade just lost the pandora program link altogether.

Thanks.

I have gone through the forums and supplemented with google searches, and have tried all the suggestions from that seemed to apply to my situation.

I deleted the mac address and hit submit.

I've updated through yum, and through the GUI (just in case)

I uninstalled rpm -e vbp, sbs, and squeezeslave then reinstalled just sbs and vbp.

The machine is working fine headless and internet radio is fine, but i really want my sirius and pandora, so i really need myapps to work.

Unless there is a more manual way of accessing pandora and sirius without having to have the player registered at mysqueezebox.com.

This is the real problem, the vbp wont show up on mysqueezebox.com.

any suggestions? let me know what file contents you would need to see, i'll be happy to get them to you.

Thanks, Larry

I've been using VB Player successfully for about a month with a Turtle Beach USB device. It's recently stopped working and I can't figure out why. I tried removing and reinstalling all VB Player devices from the control screen. I'm seeing the following in my MPD.log

Aug 28 20:02 : decoder_thread: curl failed: couldn't connect to host

ALSA lib pcm.c:2211:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM

Aug 28 20:03 : output: Failed to open "Family Room" [alsa]: Failed to open ALSA device "": No such file or directory

Aug 28 20:03 : player_thread: problems opening audio device while playing "http://localhost:9000/stream.mp3?player=00:04:20:6c:ef:ae"

I've tried reinstalling VB Player and MPD to no avail. I suspect that some lock file didn't get cleaned up or some file got corrupted in a power-down (it's summer -we get those in SoCal).

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a Mondo backup but I really don't want to resort to that. My music collection is 900+ GB. A rebuild would be a two-day affair. Everything else seems to be working fine.

Hi, had problems previous with some CD rips into flac-format. They sounded distorted in the high-spectrum. So I ripped the CDs as WAV-files with I-tunes and converted them to flacs with Media-coder. Play-back on the PC with any program for flacs (winamp, foobar, etc. all works totally fine, no distortion). When I load these flacs onto the vortexbox into the files/music/flac..folder, the Squeezebox touch will find the folder and song-files, but will not play the files. I get this error: Problem: Song cannot be opened for:

Please, can anybody help, I am at the end of my own solution paths. Each attempt to rip with Vortexbox appliance will only end in distorted files. But the ripping as WAV and then the conversion to flac with PC that are playable, show that the CDs are fine (earlier opinions suggested that the CDs would be faulty, but that is clearly not the case).

Thanks for your tipps and hints, they are greatly appreciated.

Cheers from Germany
