25 Mar 09 Setting up your VortexBox as a master browser to make your network work better

A “Master Browser” is a machine on youe network the keeps track of the relationship between all the different systems connected to it. Althought it is not required a Master Browser will speed up location systems by name on a netwrok .This is espically important on a mixed Apple OSX and PC netwrok.

To set up your VortexBox as the network Master just type the following at the command prompt.

setup-smb-master

If you have Apple computer or iPods connected to your network youcan tyope this as well

setup-mac

This will make all youe PCs and Apple products “play nice” . Thsi will also speed up name resolution for Microsoft XP and Vista networks.
