Hello,
I’ve happily got my vortexbox up and running and am using a squeezebox duet in my living room. I now have got a workflow question. I’m almost done ripping my CD collection onto my VB, and am now about to move on to my pretty extensive MP3 collection.
My MP3s are in a variety of places: some old MP3 players, some DVD backups, some CDs that I burned a while back or was given by friends.
I’m thinking that I should move all of my mp3s to single location on my windows computer. Then use a program like musicbrainz or MP3tag to clean up the entire collection. I would then move the cleaned up collection to my vortexbox.
Does that workflow make sense? Any advice on the particulars would be greatly appreciated! Here are some specific questions:
Any favorite windows utilities for cleaning up my messy MP3 library?
On VB, should I put the cleaned up collection in my FLAC folder or MP3 folder? My squeezebox is pointed at the FLAC folder. The new files obviously aren’t flac, but they are my “source” files, so I want to be able to access them through squeezebox. If I put them in the flac folder and mirror to MP3 then I have unnecessarily duplicated the files. But, if I put it in my MP3 folder, how do I get SB to access them plus my flac without having all of the flac files show up twice? Does that confusion make sense?
Would it be easier to use the vortexbox software to organize my mp3s in some way?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can share!
Best,
rob
