hi, looking for advice on getting the best quality sound out of the vortexbox would the best option be a usb dac ? if so can anyone recommend a good one. cheers brian

Get a Squeezebox and connect it to a s/pdif DAC.

really depends on how much you want to spend ... the cambridge audio dacmagic is very highly rated and then at the 1k mark is the bee's-knee's Benchmark USB DAC (which is what I have) .... quite a few as you get higher but the Benchmark and the dacmagic are sweetspots imo.. cheers,

I use a Beresford DAC with 1 x USB and 2 x coax SPDIF and 1 x TOSLink - Model TC-7520 DAC it has both variable and fixed RCA line outs and a headphone amp.
I also use the Squeezebox Duet combo and love it too.
seems to work fine on the VB - I did DIY not the VBA from Andrew.
