Hi,

I'm considering the Vortexbox appliance - but need a little more info about what's inside the box.

1) are there any free ram sockets ?

2) are the hd and dvd sata drives or ?

3) can another drive be added internally - I would like to separate os and data (music)

4) may be someone could share a photo of the inside of a vortexbox appliance.

Thanks in advance

Kind regards Uffe :-)

The VortexBox appliance is a very small, quiet appliance that is not designed to be expanded. There is no free RAM, SATA, or expansion slots inside the appliance. The HD and Dual Layer DVD burner are SATA. You can not add another drive but the OS and DATA are already sperate. There are on different partitions on the same drive.

We do offer a 2TB applaince if you need more space.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your answer.

I was thinking about placing the OS on a CF and use the HD only for data (music).

Does the appliance have a free/unused ATA/SATA connector that I can connect the CF to ?

Kind regards Uffe

I would not recommend running the system off of CF. You don't add and speed or reliability doing this and you would add greatly to the complexity of the system. Making it harder to maintain.

As I mentioned there are no free SATA connectors but there is a CF slot on the motherboard. There is also an SD slot on the front.

I assume that it is possible to boot from CF - but is the motherboard able to boot from SD ?

It can boot from the CF. I have naver tried the SD but it should be able to boot from it.
