Hi,

Since updating to SqueezeBoxServer 7.4, I have been experiencing problems with the local SqueezeSlave player.

With 7.3x, SqueezeSlave 0.9-65 (compile flags: linux portaudio:1899 signals interactive), would play music for weeks, without a problem. Now runing 7.4, switching from Internet radio to local flac files ripped from CDs almost always causes SqueezeSlave to lose connection/disappear from Web interface and stop playing music, requriing a service restart or reboot.

There have been known issues with squeezeslave and a suspected race condition. Unfortunately there does not seem to be any newer/improved compiled linux version available that will run on the Vortex box. See http://sourceforge.net/project.....eezeslave/ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/softsqueeze/files/squeezeslave/)

Before I start pestering Ralphy (the maintainer of squeezeslave); is anyone else experiencing issues with SqueezeSlave on 7.4?

Thanks

Hi Guys, I think Andrew would need to upgrade the squeezeslave on the mirror to get the right version. I tried to fiddle with ripit but found that it was a special version.

Might be the same for squeezeslave

http://forums.slimdevices.com/.....hp?t=67617 (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67617)

this seems to be squeezeslave 0.9-82 but this does not tally with.

http://sourceforge.net/project.....eze/files/ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/softsqueeze/files/)

Which show 0.9-79 from 3 Sept 09.

BUT not sure if these are complied.

Absolutly no help......sorry guys!

Cheers,

James

Hi,

Over on Sllimdevices forum, Ralphy has some suggestions in his reply in the discussion thread I started.

I believe he recommends, and gives clues for compiling a “matched” SqueezeSlave for Vortexbox that takes in to account the current Fedora libraries.

Andrew, it would be great if you could investigate further.

Thanks!

Ralphy doesn't say what build is the best. I asked him to clarify what build works the best. Once I have this information I'll build it and put it in the BETA repo for everybody to test.

I'll start a new thread in the BETA forum about this.
