Hi. First post here. Firstly i'd like to say thanks to Andrew for an excellent piece of ripping & streaming software. I have installed on an Asus eeePC that was basically redundent prior to this.

Everything is working apart from squeeze center. It works expcept for when i want to use the eee pc as a player. It plays for roughly 15 seconds and then everything goes silent. The player is still playing in squeezecenter, just no sound coming from eeepc until i press play again and the song plays from the beginning for 15 seconds and cuts out.

When i nstalled vortexbox first i had an external usb 300gb drive connected. I then chose

local playback is done with squeezeslave. I have heard many reports of the bug you are describing. The author seems to think it's a race condition but he cant find it.

After a complete re-install to i think the 8gb drive the music now plays up to 50 seconds http://vortexbox.org/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-embarassed.gif ...and now it appears radio paradise AAC 128k or 64k wont play.

Is there any instructions as to combine the 8 & 4gb drives after installation using some linux commands? Sorry, im new to linux and understand next to nothing.

SqueezeSlave can only play 44.1K music. You will need a rule to get SqueezeCenter to resample the audio for you. There is some documentation in this in the SqueezeBox Wiki.

Had a lot of problems with SqueezeSlave here, too. Manually "upgraded" to a debug version (of SqueezeSlave) which improved things a bit, but it still freaks out on several occasions — like switching from a radio station to local music.

Andrew: Maybe you'd like to include the more "stable" debug version of SqueezeSlave in the updates/ISO (it won't have the not-yet-found "racing condition" that often) and also include a default SBS rule to resample to 44.1 kHz for the local SqueezePlay (since it's MAC address is known anyway and sox will do a reasonable good job — much better than having SqueezeSlave freak out and needing to kill -9 it because it won't be stoppable thru "services")?

Ihave a default rule already to do the resample. It seems the problem is with SBS 7.4 not with SqueezeSlave. I tested with SC 7.3.3 and had no problem switching from music to streaming.
