double Rips, again.

After re-installing vortexbox for the third time, it keeps ripping my cd's twice (and one cd 27 times). I chose to rip to Lame and Flac, but it somehow rips twice in mp3 and twice in flac.


Then it looks like this:

So i get every album twice.




What should I do?

you could try the following


login to you vortexbox


you could look at /var/log/ripit.log


mine oddly shows 2 mkdir entries for each mp3 and flac directory


and it invokes the encoder once for each track.


and there are 2 sequences for each rip: mp3,flac


i don't see any error messages.


you could your cdrom is ejecting this way:


at the terminal prompt '/etc/rc.d/init.d/vortexbox stop


insert a CD


wait for its front panel light to stop blinking


then 'tail -20 /var/log/messages'


see if there are any error messages for 'device sr0'


i see 6 'Buffer I/O error on device sr0' entries and it still rips succesfully (and once only)


then try the 'eject' command at the terminal the tray should come right out
