I'm making changes to tags using Tag&Rename, and then re-indexing the entire library, but some of the changes aren't showing up.
I also have an incidence of one album being listed under multiple artists. How does that happen?

MikeDC,
I use Tag&Rename also, and have found that for re-indexing it's necessary to use the clear library and re-scan everything in the pull-down. You may be doing that already. On my VBA, it requires approximately 9 times as long to clear and re-scan as to look for changes. Look for changes always works on new additions.
I do not use the VBA for rippiing, but load them with a program that verifies accuracy by comparing each file's CRC with other folks who have ripped the same CD and then add lyrics with a foobar2000 add-in.

Whoops, forgot the multi-artists part. That is probably normal and desireable response of tagging. E.g., Robert Plant and Alison Krauss should be, and are, each be listed for Raising Sand

Yup HalfBit, you guessed it. It was the pesky compilation thing! Artist vs Album Artist. I hate tags.http://vortexbox.org/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-yell.gif

MikeDC,
I used to hate tags also, but I now have a new perspective on them. I look at them like another way of filing photos, where you can have many ways of looking at a photo, without having to have many copies of that photo. Lets say you have an image of your old dog spot. You can file that image with a "tag" of Friend, animal, pet, and Spot. That same photo could also have a "tag" lake. Other images can have some of those tags too. When you want to find something, you can enter any one, or any multiple of those tags to find what you want.
I have grown to like that type of organization.
Now I do not have to agonize over tagging the album Raising Sand in Robert Plant, or Aliison Krauss. The multi-artist tags find the music either way, and I just chose one for where the album files go. (No offense Robert http://vortexbox.org/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-smile.gif)

Hi Guys,
I would say many of the tagging efforts using FreeDB seems flawed using VB in connection with complilations/various artists.
It works well using Winamp and Gracenote, I seem to have the tracks with Various artists or Various in the Artist and Album Artist box and the Track Artist ending up in the name of the track.
It sort of defeats the concept of of the product having to spend time fixing tags, finding album art etc. But hey gives me something to do!
Otherwise great concept!
Cheers,
James
