I have 96/24 WAV files I want to convert to FLAC to enhance Vortexbox playback (i.e. selection, sorting, etc.).

*

I know I can just copy the WAV files to the Vortexbox music directories, how do I:

*

1)* Convert the WAV files to FLAC?

*

2)* Enter the tag details?

*

3)* Does this have to be done outside of Vortexbox?

*

Thanks.

plan9, the only software I know that can properly tag wav files is dbpoweramp. If you tag them before you convert it the tags will transfer over to the resulting flac file. This software might also take tags from the folder structure (not 100% sure) and add them to the resulting flac file. You can also use dbpoweramp or the Vortexbox apps Subsonic and Bliss to fix the tags of the resulting flac file. Also, eLyric from PS Audio is very good with tags on pc and mac. It''s a lot of work either way…

For converting purposes I'm using this: http://www.xrecode.com/

Very powerful and flexible, can also download tags from internet.
