View Full Version : Music source aggregation
Naim UPnP servers have the ability to detect and stream music from sources other than the primary storage area - eg. music stored on a computer attached to the same network - is this something that would be feasable long term in VB?

Not sure I understand your question. VortexBox has a built in UPnP server if that's what your asking.
I didn't explain well - Naim's UPnP server software used in their UnitiServe uses extensions to UPnP to allow the software to look for music stored in folders on other computers attached to the network their main server is attached to. The server can also rip to external NAS drives. MiniDLNA cannot do this at present and in all other areas is more than equal when installed to a UnitiServe costing many thousands. The remote storage option allows the server to run on SSD containing the UPnP software -*

OK, so what's your question?
Could similar features become part of Vortexbox?

I don't think so. The goal of VortexBox is to be the center for all you music. If you start using music from other sources that defeats the purpose. The best option would be to simply copy the music from other source to your VortexBox. That way it will always be available to all your players.
That sounds fine to me Andrew
