I seem to remember a "use iTunes" checkbox during setup, but now cannot find anything like that. I'd like to disconnect Vortexbox from my iTunes, and seperate them entirely for the time being.
Where do I find this? Turn off the DAAP SErver?

The "use iTunes" is part of SqueezeBox Server, not VortexBox. On the SBS web page, click "Settings" in the lower right corner of the page. On the Settings page, click the "Plugins" tab and disable iTunes (uncheck the "Enable" box by iTunes), and click "Apply".
You don't want the SBS iTunes plugin enabled on VortexBox, since you don't have iTunes running on VortexBox. This plugin is only useful on a PC or Mac where you have both SqueezeBox Server and iTunes running on the same platform.
If you use iTunes on a PC or Mac, and you want to import music from your VortexBox to the iTunes Music library, make sure to use files->music->mp3 for its library, and not files->music->flac. iTunes cannot handle FLAC files directly without some help from Fluke or DAAP.
The DAAP server on VortexBox can also serve FLAC files to iTunes. It can be accessed in iTunes by iTunes->Preferences->Shared and checking the "Look for shared libraries" box. If you do that, then "VortexBox DAAP Server" will show up in the Shared sidebar in iTunes (if you have the DAAP Server running on VortexBox). Clicking on "VortexBox DAAP Server" will bring up your VortexBox FLAC library in the main iTunes window. You can then play anything in your FLAC library through iTunes, but it does not become an integrated part of the iTunes Music library. But all of this should not affect SBS on your VortexBox, and playing music using SBS.

Thanks for the detail, Ron. I am running two systems side-by-side for the time beings, one of them a Win XP machine with iTunes on it - so I had both SBS installations instucted to "use iTunes."
What had happened was that the Vortexbox sucked down the files from the iTunes directory, and I had 3-4 copies of each file, as I keep both lossless and AAC versions in my Itunes folders.
I'll correct that now - thanks.
