I've followed the instructions as best that I could and now have vortexbox 1.7 with fedora 14 on my vba. For some reason I had to install the player after all of the changes. Also, there was a note in the upgrade log about dependency:

Everything looks fine in the gui, but I'm unable to get music to play on any of the soundcard outputs. I did repeat asound.conf and green, pink,… process.

My question is can I just download the image, put it on a cd, and reinstall vb? I think this might be the quickest way to fix whatever problem I've introduced. I did a backup prior to the changes so I should be able to restore from that I think.

Yes, one can always use this approach. Although don't just "think" you can restore, you better be sure as the clean install will delete all your music files. You need to KNOW you have a backup of your music files.

I saw some responses to another post and:

setup-mplayer

and

rpm -e —-nodeps mplayer directfb

yum clean all

yum install mplayer directfb

Seems to have fixed my problems.
