VortexBox is a free opensource CD ripping / jukebox / Media server solution. Once VortexBox has been loaded on an unused PC it will automatically rip CDs to FLAC and MP3 files, ID3 tag the files ,and download the cover art. VortexBox will then serve the files to network Media player such as Logitech Squeezebox. The file can also be streamed to a Windows or Mac OSX system.
VortexBox 0.1 includes the following features.
- Automatically rip a CD placed in the CDROM
- Automatically ID3 Tag mp3 and FLAC files and download get cover Art
- Serve up audio files using SqueezeCenter
- Playback files locally through Sound Card
- NAS- Service music and other files to networked PCs and Mac systems
